Royal wedding - Meghan and Harry

People from all over the world sat in front of their screens to watch actress Meghan Markle marry Prince Harry in an emotional ceremony. After a captivating royal wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated all night in the company of close friends and family.

St George's Chapel was the setting for this modern fairytale that gathered 600 guests including the Queen and over 30 royals. World-class celebrities the likes of Oprah Winfrey, actor George Clooney and his wife Amal Clooney, Sir Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham, James Corden, and tennis champion Serena Williams. Apart from being a guest, Sir Elton, who sang at the funeral service for Harry's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, also performed at the lunchtime reception.

The cast members from US legal drama Suits also attended the ceremony to watch their former co-star walk down the aisle. The series made Meghan Markle famous by playing the character Rachel Zane. Patrick J Adams - who plays Mike Ross, Meghan's husband in Suits - and Gabriel Macht - who also stars in the show as Harvey Specter - were there for the big day. Although Meghan Markle and Patrick J Adams have left the show, Suits has been confirmed for an eighth season.

The bride wore an elegant white gown - with a white veil and boat neck - designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller, the first female Artistic Director at French fashion house Givenchy. Made out of silk tulle, Meghan Markle's veil was five metres long and it was dotted with a trip of hand-embroidered flowers in silk threads. She adorned her head with Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau tiara. Upon reaching the altar, Meghan was complimented by her husband to-be who told her “you look amazing,” to which she replied “thank you”. Meanwhile, Prince Harry wore the frock coat uniform of the Blues and Royals.

Everyone cheered on as the Archbishop of Canterbury proclaimed the couple husband and wife. Meghan Markle has gone down in history as the first mixed race person in modern history to marry a British senior royal. Megha's mother, Doria Ragland, was there for her daughter's big day, but unfortunately her father Thomas Markle had to pull out due to health issues. In his absence, the Prince of Wales walked the bride up the aisle of the Quire.

Amidst hundreds of cream and white flowers and green foliage, under the frame of the West Door, Harry and his bride paused and kissed before leaving the chapel. Around 100,000 onlookers admired the couple as they made their way out of Windsor in a carriage.

The Kensington Palace posted on their Twitter account: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex depart Windsor Castle for a reception hosted by The Prince of Wales at Frogmore House, in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero. This vehicle was originally manufacture in 1968, and has since been converted to electric power #royalwedding”

The royal family commented on their Twitter account: “Guests are enjoying the sunshine and the atmosphere as they get ready to see Prince Harry and Ms. Markle arrive - and depart as Man and Wife! #royalwedding”

The royal family also thanked everyone who watched the ceremony on their Twitter account: "Thank you to everyone who came to Windsor and those who followed from around the UK, the Commonwealth, and the world today. Congratulations once again to the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Sussex. #royalwedding."

200 of the couple's closest friends and family fathered at Frogmore House where the celebrations continued. The married couple arrived at the black-tie dinner riding in a silver blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero.

The Kensington Palace official Twitter account displayed a post about the wedding cake: “The wedding cake is to be served at the Reception. It was designed by Claire Ptak and features elderflower syrup made at The Queen's residence in Sandringham from the estate's own elderflower trees, as well as a light sponge cake uniquely formulated for the couple. #royalwedding."

Prince Charles made an emotional speech at the castle's St George's Hall. He made jokes about changing Harry's nappy and burping, before saying that he had turned out hell. He ended his speech by saying: “My darling old Harry, I'm so happy for you.”

In turn, Prince Harry also moved the audience by telling his bride, “I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” He acknowledged the pressure Meghan Markle was under in the run-up to the wedding, and then stated that she had navigated everything with great.
